Veritas Forum: What Good is Power?

Friday 15th May, 7:00-9:00pm at the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities

How can we account for both our fear of and fascination with power? Must power always corrupt or can it be reimagined for the common good? Join this Veritas Forum to hear leading academics in political philosophy, law, and political theology discuss the resources of the Bible and Christian faith in helping us to wrestle with these complex questions and how we might rightly use the power we hold. Panellists include Tom Simpson, Alfred Landecker Professor of Values & Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government; Dinesha Samararatne, Professor at the Department of Public & International Law at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Visiting Fellow, All Souls; and Luke Bretherton, Regius Professor of Moral & Pastoral Theology at Christ Church. Followed by audience Q&A and a drinks reception.
