Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which the participation in the life of God’s people which began at baptism is confirmed by the bishop by the laying on of hands, and in which those who have been baptised affirm for themselves the faith into which they have been baptised and their intention to live a life of responsible and committed discipleship. Through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop, the Church also asks God to give them power through the Holy Spirit to enable them to live in this way.
Most years at St Andrew's we hold a Confirmation Service for all those wanting to make a public committment to their faith in Jesus. We have a mixture of young and old and all are welcome to join us.
Confirmation isn't something which should be taken lightly and quickly so as part of the process we provide a 3 week course to discuss what Confirmation is, being involved in the church community and some essential aspects of what we, as Christians, believe.
The course titles are as follows:
Repenting & Believing
Living & Loving
Baptising & Confirming
If you are considering being confirmed do speak to or email one of the clergy or the youth department.
