Student Groups
We have groups for different student groups.
TOFS (Too Old for Saygo)
TOFS is a fellowship group for ANYONE of student age who is around during university holidays. We generally meet up on Monday nights to eat, hang out, read the bible and such. If you fall into that category at all PLEASE do get in touch, either e-mail Chris (below) or better still, talk to someone about it in person. Perhaps the best time to catch us is after the 6pm service anytime in the holidays, when we tend to go to the pub - you'll notice us as the ones hanging around after everyone else has left with someone desperately trying to shepherd us out of the door and in the direction of the Dewdrop.
Undergraduates at St Andrew's
It has been exciting to see a steady rise in the number of undergraduates from both Oxford Brookes and Oxford Uni worshipping at St Andrew's. Our philosophy is to treat undergrads as anyone else in the congregation so that they feel part of the family and not as a 'special needs' group! There is no student-oriented service, though the majority attend either the 9.30am or the 6pm services. Hopefully, you’ll get to meet other Christian families and individuals, young and old. Better yet, they might invite you to lunch… Although there is no ‘student-night’, there is an undergrad fellowship group which meet along with other 20-30 year olds on Thursday nights at Discuss. There’s a real sense of shared purpose and community in this group, and we hope to welcome many more into this growing community. Many are also involved with other aspects of church life, from helping in the children’s or youth groups, to leading worship at one of the services.
Postgrads at St. Andrews
We have a thriving community of post-graduate students worshipping at St. Andrews. They attend all three of our Sunday services. Some are involved in fellowship groups and others attend weekly bible studies like Thursday evening's 'Discuss'. Given that post-graduates are dispersed throughout the church, not to mention all over Oxford in different departments and colleges, the 'Postgrads at St Andrews' group aims to foster some community! There are no official weekly meetings or regular activities at present, but, if there's interest, groups can be formed and events can be planned.
